PROJECT TITLE: Tree Survey on Education Land
CLIENT: Birmingham City Council
LOCATION: Education land
SERVICES: Complete re-survey of trees on education land for the Authority
COMPLETION DATE: February 2009

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
Birmingham City Council, as a responsible land owner and landlord, established a comprehensive tree database for their education sites and Parkwood Consultancy Services were instructed to re-survey all of those sites in order to update the existing records, and to make new records where appropriate. As a result of our survey, the Authority shall be able to refine their current tree management strategy and continue to ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the safety of all visitors to the school sites whilst incurring the minimum cost.

KEY CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS:
· Work programming to ensure all sites are visited : Detailed project implementation plans and regular updates and revisions that take account of change.
· Quality assurance : Comprehensive induction and training for the surveying team.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
· Delivery ahead of programme.
· High quality data recording maintained throughout the project.
